My story

The Budding Muso

Leon’s interest and love for music started at a very young age. With singing being sort of a first love, he sang in choirs and acapella groups for as long as he can remember.

Leon Meets Pop

He was part of the pop-group “Hi-5” in 2005, which traveled extensively nationally and internationally, including a performance with the artist Nataniel, in the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Coupled with piano lessons, as well as vocal training, he always knew that a career in music would be something that he undoubtedly would pursue .

The Singing Student

During his student years at the University of Pretoria where he completed his Honors degree in Statistics, he was also a part of the choir “Tuks Camerata” who represented South Africa at the 2002 International Symposium on Choral music in Minnesota, USA.

Leon Meets the Guitar

Although he was only introduced to the the guitar in his late teens, the instrument totally captivated him from the beginning. This captivation turned into an obsessive passion, as he started to study the classical guitar under guitar maestro Charl Lamprecht. Under his expert guidance, they soon discovered that Leon had a natural talent for the rhythm and rasgueado techniques that are associated with the Spanish / Latin guitar. Charl introduced Leon to Corneille in 2007, and the rest is history.

Leon became the other half of CH2.

Leon’s Other Musical Journeys

Leon is also a founding member of the ministry music group/band ‘Vertikaal’ which won numerous awards over the past couple of years, including a SAMA award for the best Christian album in 2008.

Leon & CH2

Together with Corneille, he aims to achieve musical world domination with CH2…!!!
